Learning Nest: n. A place for "fledglings” to learn the foundational skills that will free them to soar with focus, reasoning, and creativity.

I love beginnings! That’s one of the reasons I started Amy’s Learning Nest, so I could do more of what I love: equipping you, the learner, with foundational skills in language, math, and sewing. Developing strong skills in language, math, and sewing provide the critical foundation needed to then wield those core skills successfully in your daily life, work, and creative pursuits.

How do I equip you?

By:

  • laying solid foundations through explicit instruction.

  • sharpening skills through meaningful practice.

  • building confidence through creative note booking.

Up until March 2020, my preferred (and only method) of equipping students was via face-to-face tutoring in my home. Suddenly, because of the pandemic, I needed to take a hard look at how I could continue equipping learners, when they couldn’t safely be present in my home.

So with the abundance of “free” time now on my hands, I excitedly set out to bring to life a curriculum idea that had been coming together in my mind over the past several years: self-paced, home-based tutorial kits!

My hope is that these tutorial kits will help learners be happily engaged, even flourishing in these areas of study in the comfort of their own homes, especially during these unusual times.

Goal: To remove your struggles with written and oral expression, and replace them with the confident ability to use language to reason, discuss, and express ideas.

Sewing Rules

Goal: To remove your perplexities about the what’s and how’s of hand sewing and replace them with an energizing clarity to create an endless variety of projects.

Math Rules

Goal: To remove your frustrations with foundational, fundamental math concepts and replace them with a bold attitude to approach math with an active, questioning, investigating frame of mind.
